Péter Márki-Zay, the united opposition’s candidate for prime minister, has named several individuals who will be part of his team of experts responsible for creating and representing his 2022 election program. These names include IT sector businessman Gábor Bojár, economist Júlia Király, Olympic champion Ádám Steinmetz, and legal sociologist Zoltán Fleck.
The opposition alliance’s candidate for prime minister, Péter Márki-Zay, suggested a few weeks ago that he was considering setting up a team of experts, which he called for simplicity’s sake, a “shadow government.” The group will be responsible for creating and representing his 2022 election program.
Several names quickly started circulating in the press, including that of Ákos Bod Péter, professor of economics and former president of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB), who was also Fidesz’s prime ministerial candidate in the second round of the 2006 elections; Péter Róna, lawyer, economist, and co-chairman of the LMP party foundation Ökopolis; and György Raskó, agricultural entrepreneur and state secretary of the former conservative Antall government.
The topic was also raised during an interview on Sunday, and Márki-Zay revealed who among the prospective members will definitely participate in the work of the advisory group.

Although Márki-Zay has repeatedly stated that in case he and the opposition party alliance win the election, he would prefer to establish a government consisting of experts rather than party politicians his team is more like experts working on different aspects of the opposition’s program than a list of his planned government’s members.
