Judit Varga and far-right party Mi Hazánk both hope that the Musk-led Twitter will provide equal opportunities for everyone in the name of "free speech."Continue reading
The Russian-Ukrainian war drove another wedge into society, leading to people being denounced should they dare stand on the wrong side.
As Elon Musk often voices his political views, he has recently sided with the idea of a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine on Twitter. After this, the Twitter thought police accused him of being a pro-Putin puppet and even Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called him out for being supportive of Russia. Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andrij Melnyk was less diplomatic, telling Musk to “f***k off”.
Reflecting on this case, venture capitalist and co-host of the All-In Podcast David Sacks wrote in Newsweek that “a Twitter hive mind is using the same intolerant cancellation tactics that they use to shut down debate on domestic political issues in order to shape U.S. policy toward Ukraine”.
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
– Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
– Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
– Water supply to Crimea assured.
– Ukraine remains neutral.

He then went on to say that by declaring any call for peace or even de-escalation, any dissent equal to taking Russia’s side, the online „Woke mobs” continue their routine of demonizing and defaming their political opponents, impugning the motives of anyone who questions their goals or tactics.
According to Sacks, a new political marriage was born out of the Ukraine/Russia dispute, namely one between the woke Left and the neoconservative Right. He explains that “since neoconservatives largely walked out of the Republican Party over Trump and disavowed all of their conservative domestic policy views, the Left has discovered a new love for interventionist foreign policy, as long as it serves “democracy” and opposes “autocracy”—an increasingly malleable term that both the wokes and the neocons now use to define not just Putin but also democratically elected leaders like Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Giorgia Meloni in Italy, and Donald Trump in the United States”.
Sacks stressed that “warping the debate in this way allows delusional and contradictory thinking to go unchallenged”. He added that as nonsensical some arguments against Putin might be and a real debate would expose some of the delusions in that thinking, not everyone is allowed to have an opinion on the matter.
According to him, we will continue to see a one-way ratchet toward greater and more dangerous escalation of this conflict, as long as this woke-neocon alliance is allowed to set the terms of the debate.
“A regional war turned into the First World War because all parties made maximalist demands and assumed others were bluffing. It can happen again, especially if the media, social media, and foreign policy elite join forces and use woke cancellation tactics to preclude discussion of any alternatives. Right now, we are locked on an escalatory path, and the destination ahead is Woke War III” – Sacks concluded his thoughts.
