The Suzuki Vitara, a Favorite of Hungarians, Has Been Renewed

The new Suzuki Vitara was first unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, reports Világgazdaság. The appearance of the Vitara produced in Esztergom (northern Hungary) has now been redesigned, with a nine-inch central screen and more driver assistance system.

The new look brings back a bit of the original appearance. The air-intake has been accentuated, given wide black fender flares, and raised to a higher height. The first press photos show a striking set of rims with a turned surface, and the color range has been extended by two new additions: Titan Dark Grey Pearl Metallic and Sphere Blue Pearl, available with a black roof.

The dashboard has not changed, but the center screen is now nine inches instead of seven, as the designers freed up some space.

Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity is available via USB and wifi, with remote access via Suzuki Connect.

The range and knowledge of driver assistance systems offered for the Suzuki Vitara have been expanded.

With the Dual Sensor Brake Support II emergency brake assist, the area monitored by the sensors has been extended, resulting in faster obstacle detection. The fatigue monitor uses signals from various sensors to suggest a rest if it detects a lapse in driver attention.

The driver can set the speed limiter to work on the basis of the signal from the board recognition system, but by default the two systems work independently, thus the last detected board is displayed on the instrument panel and the driver can set the maximum speed himself. The lane-keeping assist works in conjunction with the cruise control.

In February, a Vitara, the four millionth car produced at Suzuki’s Esztergom plant, rolled off the production line. The company has come a long way in its three-decade history in Hungary: in 1992, 970 cars were produced in five months; today, 650 cars are produced in one day at the plant. In 32 years, a total of seven different models have been produced in Esztergom and today the S-CROSS and Vitara are exported to 123 countries. The seven models produced at the Hungarian Suzuki plant are: the three generations of the Swift (1992, 2005, 2010), the Wagon R+ (2000), the Ignis (2003), the SX4 (2006), the Splash (2008), the SX4 S-CROSS (2013), and the Vitara (2015). In addition, since the Vitara went into production, the role of Hungarian engineers has become increasingly important, with their active involvement in the development of the prototype and production technology. Moreover, since 2019, the Esztergom plant has been producing only hybrid Vitaras and S-CROSSes for the European market. The Suzuki Vitara is available in Hungary from EUR 18,065.
