The majority of foreigners are arriving in Budapest from Copenhagen Airport for the rest of the year, with more than twice as many Swedes booking flights to Hungary than last year, according to Turizmus.com.
Spanish, Danish, and French tourists are the most likely to visit Hungary in October, November, and December, according to Kiwi.com, as they are the nationalities most likely to have booked flights to Hungary through the Czech travel technology company’s system up to September 30 this year.
The Danes have made a big leap in popularity, ranking 16th last year and in the top three this year.
The English, Italians, Germans, Greeks, and Swedes have also made the top 10 list of foreign visitors. The latter have made Hungary particularly popular this year, given that last year they were only 18th on the list of visiting nations.
In total, nearly three times as many Danes and more than twice as many Swedes visited the capital in the last three months of this year compared to the same period last year.
Reservation data show that visitors are staying longer in the period under review than last year. This year, visitors spend an average of four to five days in October, November, and December exploring Hungary. Average airfares have risen, making it no wonder that it costs more to fly to Hungary overall than last year. A person flying to Budapest in the period from the beginning of October to the end of December will have to pay an average of almost EUR 125 for a flight.
It is interesting to note that flights are more expensive in the last month of the year because of the holidays, but the average price of flights to Hungary for December this year, bought by September 30, was lower than last year.
