In June 2024, the average gross earnings of full-time employees were 642 000 HUF (EUR 1620), while the average net earnings after taking into account discounts were 442 000 HUF (EUR 1120). Average gross earnings rose by 13.3 percent, average net earnings by 13.1 percent and real earnings by 9.3 percent compared to a year earlier, with consumer prices up 3.7 percent year-on-year, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Monday.
The median value of gross earnings reached 518,800 forints (1 EUR = 394 HUF) and the median value of net earnings 359,200 forints, up 15.3 and 15.1 percent respectively on the same periods of the previous year.
The KSH said that in June, the average gross regular earnings were estimated at HUF 598 200, 13.9 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year. The average regular gross salary was HUF 595 000 in the business sector, HUF 597 800 in the budget sector and HUF 631 300 in the non-profit sector, up by 12.0, 18.8 and 18.7 percent respectively over a year.

Average net earnings excluding discounts reached HUF 427 000 and HUF 442 000 including discounts, 13.3 and 13.1 percent higher than in June 2023.
In January-June, the average gross earnings of full-time employees were HUF 634 800. Average net earnings without discounts were HUF 422 100, and HUF 436 900 including discounts. Both gross and net average earnings excluding discounts increased by 14.0 percent, while net earnings including discounts increased by 13.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
