Night of Artworks Festival to Put Science in the Spotlight

MTI-Hungary Today 2025.05.07.

The 9th Night of Artworks Festival will take place in seventy venues with over 100 programs between May 22 and 24 in Budapest.

The festival will allow the public to enter places that rarely receive visitors. The doors of restoration workshops will be open, thematic art and architecture tours will be organized, and

participants will also have the chance to meet well-known artists, scientists, and gallerists in person,

according to the organizers’ statement.

This year, the festival, organized by mutargy.com, will focus on art and science. Inventor Dániel Erdély, a former student of Ernő Rubik (inventor of the Rubik’s Cube), will present Victor Vasarely’s art from a scientific perspective. In addition, participants can meet, for example, architect-mathematician Gábor Domokos, one of the inventors of the Gömböc, as well as art collector Viktor Molnár.

The Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum Restoration and Storage Center, and the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts will open their restoration workshops.

Visitors can get an insight into the work of the conservator-restorers, for instance, how they use instruments to expose forgeries.

Photojournalist Péter Korniss, Emese Benczúr, József Baksai, Nóra Soós, and Melinda Soltész will be giving a guided tour of their own exhibition. Visitors can also see the studios of contemporary Hungarian artists József Bullás, Zsombor Barakonyi, Boglárka Nagy, Marcell Németh, and Márton Romvári, as well as the studio of János Fajó, who died a few years ago.

This year’s workshops will include watercolor painting and jewelry making, as well as Herend porcelain rose making, and one of them will also offer the chance to create your own VR exhibit.

During the three days of the Night of the Artworks Festival, visitors can enjoy art events from morning until late at night all over Budapest. Details can be found at this link.
