The retraining program for the H225M helicopter type at the Hungarian Defense Forces József Kiss 86th Helicopter Brigade is currently underway, and new pilots have finished their training, honvedelem.hu reports.
On February 28, a group of new pilots commenced their practical flight training on the new aircraft type. It is worth noting that these pilots are not newcomers; they have already demonstrated their skills on the H145M helicopter.
The training program consists of theoretical and simulator blocks, involving 26 helicopter pilots and eight on-board technicians.
The theoretical and simulator training will be conducted at the Airbus Helicopters training center in France. Subsequently, the practical basic and advanced flight training will take place in Szolnok (central Hungary), with support from Airbus’ instructors.
Airbus, renowned for producing top-notch helicopters, has forged a significant partnership with the Hungarian Defense Forces.
The ongoing reform of the armed forces in Hungary presents the French manufacturer with a substantial opportunity to test and enhance its rotary wing aircraft.
Similarly, this collaboration is crucial for the Defense Forces, as Airbus guarantees the replacement of outdated Soviet-era helicopters with world-class aircraft capable of serving both military and civilian purposes. The Airbus helicopters will be equipped with a specialized armament package tailored for the Hungarian Air Force.
This includes a 20 mm machine gun, a 70 mm missile container, and, in the future, guided anti-tank missiles.
These enhancements will provide the Hungarian Air Force with capabilities not currently available with existing technology, significantly bolstering its operational effectiveness.
