Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky announced that 3 of the world’s most modern battle tanks arrived in Hungary today. The new equipment brings the total number of tanks in the Hungarian Defense Forces’ armored brigade in Tata (northwestern Hungary) to 18, Honvedelem.hu reports.

Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky noted: “With the introduction of the Leopard tanks, a new era has begun in the history of Hungarian force development, and the rearmament of the Hungarian armed forces is proceeding according to plan.”

The Leopard 2 A7s have a high speed, maneuverability and high reliability in their class.

The armored body of the tanks is 7.7 meters long, with the gun forward turned the length is 10.97 meters. The width without additional armor is 3.76 meters and the height is 3.03 meters.

The Minister of Defense added that

a total of 44 high-tech military equipment will be delivered to Hungary by 2028.

According to industry reports, the Leopard 2 A7 HU tanks are built with reinforced bottoms, front and roof armor, and are resistant to improvised explosive devices and anti-tank mines. The vehicle is equipped with protection against incendiary liquids (such as Molotov cocktails or napalm) and an improved automatic fire extinguishing system.
