Honvedelem.hu reports that on October 2, ten additional Gidrán combat vehicles arrived at the György Klapka barracks in Tata (northwestern Hungary), marking another step in Hungary’s military modernization. These vehicles are now part of the 1st Self-propelled Artillery Regiment.
The Gidráns, known internationally as Ejder Yalçin, are multi-purpose, modular armored vehicles developed by Turkish company Nurol Makina. They are currently being integrated into the Hungarian armed forces to improve mobility and operational efficiency.
These vehicles can serve as mobile fire control points, observation posts, and command centers.
In total, the Hungarian army will receive 300 Gidráns as part of the Defense and Military Development Program. With this delivery, Tata has received several batches of Gidráns, contributing to the growing number of modern vehicles stationed in the region.
Each Gidrán weighs 14 tons, measures 5.8 meters in length, 2.5 meters in width and height, and is powered by an 8,900 cc engine. It can reach speeds of up to 120 km/h and travel 700 kilometers on a single fill-up.
With enhanced explosion protection and air transportability, the Gidrán brings advanced technical solutions to Hungary’s military.
The acquisition of the Gidráns is part of a broader effort under Hungary’s Defense and Military Development Program. This initiative aims to modernize the country’s military capabilities to create a well-prepared, innovative, and versatile force ready to defend national security.
