Meleghy Automotive’s almost fully automated factory in Miskolc (northeastern Hungary) has been completed. The state-of-the-art, largely machine-based plant will work with aluminum and metal. The plant will be a major supplier to the BMW plant in Debrecen (eastern Hungary).
The foundation stone of Meleghy Automotive Hungary’s Miskolc plant was laid at the end of September 2023, and the Weinberg ’93 Építő Kft., responsible for the design and construction of the building, has now completed the construction. The project, worth around HUF 9 billion (EUR 22.4 million), was also supported by the state with HUF 1.1 billion (EUR 2.7 million), reports Magyar Építők.
Meleghy Automotive is a century-old German automotive supplier with over 1,500 employees and an annual turnover of EUR 400 million at nine sites in four countries (Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Hungary).
“The Miskolc plant’s raison d’être was created by a major new business opportunity with a German premium car manufacturer, that has since been extended – to our great delight – by an agreement with another premium car manufacturer,” Péter Katona, managing director of Meleghy Automotive Hungary, told Magyar Építők.
The plans for the plant were based on an existing German greenfield project, but a more modern and environmentally friendly complex with greener technologies has been built in Miskolc.
The plant is highly robotized, ensuring extremely high efficiency and quality with a minimum of manual labor. In total, the factory will employ around 50 people.
The company’s main objective is to develop a pool of engineers and technicians to operate the machines. Here they will work with aluminum and metal and the company will be an important supplier to the BMW plant in Debrecen.
