A drone defense technology company, RAC Antidrone Zrt., is to be founded by the 4iG Nyrt., Rotors & Cams Zrt., a 4iG Group company, and the iG TECH private equity fund, the telecommunications group announced in a press release.
The Budapest-based 4iG expects that the market demand for precision technologies for drone control could grow significantly in the future. RAC Antidrone will offer airspace surveillance and air defense solutions against devices capable of autonomous flight for the industrial, transport, defense, and civil sectors, they revealed.
The new company will integrate the most advanced technologies available, and will aim to enter the domestic and international markets with unique developments and specific innovation activities based on its domestic knowledge base.
The development of UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle) technologies, the localization of new technologies and their market penetration are key strategic areas within the 4iG Group, so the operations of RAC Antidrone Zrt. will be overseen by László Blénessy, Deputy CEO of 4iG Nyrt. responsible for technology, while Kornél Szepessy, former CEO of HungaroControl, will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the company. As they explained, security service providers for industrial, transport, military, and civilian installations have recognized the need for effective surveillance and protection of the airspace of installations. As drones continue to evolve in their applicability and capabilities, drone detection and interdiction has gained new momentum.
The Hungarian-owned RAC Antidrone aims to contribute to the security control of autonomous aircraft and airspace as a systems integrator. The company also aims to develop the domestic knowledge base, and in the medium and long term, to complement the technologies available in the industry with specific developments and specific innovation activities.
Founded in 2014, Rotors & Cams is a leading player in the domestic market for custom UAV systems. Its solutions cover a wide range of industrial, law enforcement, and military applications. One of the company’s outstanding developments is the ProTAR, a target drone designed for the Hungarian Defense Forces to support air defense capabilities.
