New Director Takes Over at Mercedes-Benz Plant in Kecskemét

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.01.25.

Jens Bühler will take up the position of director of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét (central Hungary) in January, the company announced on Wednesday.

In his new role, Bühler, who has worked in various management positions at the company for 21 years, will be responsible for the ongoing expansion of the plant and the integration of future models of the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) and Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture Midsize (MBEAM) platforms into production.

Fact

Jens Bühler joined the company in 2003, after studying mechanical engineering as a specialist for production processes and materials technology at the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant in Germany. After various roles in process design, he took over the management of production planning for the MRA series (GLC and E-Class) at the Beijing Benz Automotive Company (BBAC) plant in Beijing in 2014, and played a major role in the construction of the BBAC MRA II plant expansion.

Later, he was responsible for the design of the Kecskemét plant expansion project, and from 2018, for the development of the strategic direction and management model of Mercedes-Benz Operations. Since 2021, he has led the global factory planning area at Mercedes-Benz. In this position, he played a major role in the transformation of Mercedes-Benz Cars’ production planning functions and laid down the design guidelines for Mercedes-Benz AG’s future factories. With his extensive experience as a project manager – and the team he leads – he has managed the company’s construction and production projects worldwide for the past three years. Bühler will take over the management of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. in January 2024, from Christian Wolff, who led the plant for eight years before retiring.

Bühler told Világgazdaság that “it is a great honor to be appointed director of a factory that I was previously responsible for expanding.” In addition, he stressed:

Thanks to the ongoing expansion, the Kecskemét site will become one of the most important Mercedes-Benz plants in the world.”

“The coming years will bring exciting challenges with the introduction of future ‘Made in Kecskemét’ models, and I am counting on the great team at Kecskemét to help me achieve this,” he said.
