The Hungarian national football team’s match against Bosnia and Herzegovina ended in a goalless draw at the Puskás Arena on Tuesday in the second round of the UEFA Nations League Division A.

Head coach Marco Rossi’s side, who were beaten 5-0 by Germany in Düsseldorf last Saturday, dominated the entire match, creating several chances but could not overcome a conspicuously passive Bosnian side.

The Hungarians are now fourth in Group 3 with one point after two rounds. They will next host the Netherlands on October 11.

Marco Rossi’s team started the match with great enthusiasm. The Hungarian attack was aggressive in the first three minutes, but then both teams settled back into their own system of play, with both focusing on defending with confidence.

The national team maintained their dominance in the field throughout, and the match was played mainly in the Bosnian half. In the second half of the clash, Hungary continued to attack, with the best chance coming from substitute Ádám Martin, who headed into the goal from three meters, but the Bosnian goalkeeper saved the striker’s effort.

Overall, the Hungarians played much better football than in last Saturday’s 5-0 defeat, but the visitors’ goalkeeper’s bravado and mistakes in attack prevented them from getting the three points.

Dominik Szoboszlai, captain of the squad, stressed that he was proud of the team and his teammates for their response to the 5-0 defeat to the Germans on Saturday, which he himself had expected. The 23-year-old Liverpool midfielder said that the team had started in the right direction and he wanted to continue. “Of course, everyone would have preferred three points, but I think it is not usual for the national team to play with such motivation and fighting spirit after a defeat like the one in Germany,” he noted.

Head coach Marco Rossi was not satisfied with the result, but he was satisfied with the performance of the national football team after the 0-0 draw. “We won a lot of matches today, we had the desire to prove ourselves. That is the basis of what we saw tonight.

I congratulated the players, although obviously neither they nor I am happy with the result because we deserved to win. When we give our all, at least the fans can be proud of their team,”

emphasized the Italian.
