Bournemouth, with Hungarian international Milos Kerkez in the line-up, recorded a spectacular 2-1 win at home to defending champions Manchester City in the tenth round of the English Premier League.

The Hungarian international left-back played during the entire match.

Head coach Josep Guardiola’s Manchester City lost their unbeaten run in the Premier League for the first time since December 6 last year, going 32 league games unbeaten. It should be also noted that

Bournemouth beat a much more fancied club for the first time after a draw and 16 defeats.

Also in the Premier League on Saturday, Liverpool, with another Hungarian international, Dominik Szoboszlai, came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 in the English Football League.

Despite the win, the captain of the Hungarian national team was harshly criticized by Liverpool fans who were unhappy with his performance.

To put it mildly, Szoboszlai did not play the game of his life as he came on as a starter for the Reds, but was substituted by head coach Arne Slot in the 66th minute, still a goal down, Origo pointed out.

The 24-year-old midfielder has recently expressed his self-criticism on his social media page, saying that he is still not playing well, having only scored one goal and assisted three times despite setting a target of 25 for the season. He failed to improve on that against Brighton, with only 37 touches in the encounter.

Recently, there have been reports, including from the BBC, that Bournemouth’s Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez could join Szoboszlai at Liverpool next summer.

Earlier, it was reported that it is almost certain that Liverpool will have two Hungarian players in their senior squad next summer.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot wants to replace the out-of-form 30-year-old Andy Robertson, or at least sign a rival for the left-back position, with Kerkez being the first choice.

The Hungarian player only signed for Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar last season, but after his first full season he has been linked with a number of top teams in the Premier League.

Kerkez would have been snapped up by Manchester United, but they were reportedly shocked by the GBP 40 million they would have asked for the player.

Anfieldindex.com reported that Liverpool were interested in Kerkez, who is considered the most promising young left-back in the Premier League. A comparison was made between Kerkez and Robertson this season, and our compatriot clearly came out on top.
