From September, the salaries of Hungarian soldiers will increase by an average of 26 percent, but the increase will vary according to the category of personnel, the defense minister said in a video message posted on his social networking site on Thursday.
Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky announced that the government has decided on a priority salary increase for soldiers in two stages: first from September this year and then from January 2024. He added that the first day of September will be the start of the period for which soldiers will receive the priority pay.
The Minister stressed the need to elevate readiness, compensate soldiers for the added burden of the changing security environment and an increased show of appreciation.
This pay increase is substantial, averaging 26 percent, but it varies by category of personnel.
Peace requires strength, and we will keep working,”
the Minister said in his video message.
