The Bükk National Park Directorate awaits the adventurous, the lovers of the Bükk Mountains, hiking enthusiasts, and excursionists with thirteen already announced programs for the Month of Caves, writes Turizmus.com.
On the opening day, February 29, for a registration fee of only HUF 100 (EUR 0.25) per person, visitors can take part in the Szeleta Park’s “Szinva Nature Interpretational Trail” tour, including the world-famous Szeleta Cave. In connection with this, Péter Szolyák, director of the Herman Ottó Museum, will give a lecture on the Szeleta culture, its research, and significance from 4.30 p.m.
There will be five more such tours in March at a reduced price.
This weekend, there will also be a tour to the Esztáz-stone Cave (Esztáz-kői-barlang), with two guided tours to the cave, 3.5 km from Felsőtárkány (northern Hungary), on March 2. On March 2, 9, and 23, there will also be a special long cave tour to the St. Stephen stalactite cave in Lillafüred (northern Hungary).
On March 16, visitors can see the undeveloped Kő-lyuk (Stone-hole), where rich artifacts from the Bronze Age culture have been recovered, as well as a number of cave bear skulls.
A very spectacular, highly protected and sealed stalactite cave in the Bükk, the Bolhás Sinkhole-cave, is recommended for young people and sporty adults who are adventurous and keen to prove themselves.
