A man tried to set fire to a Fidesz office in Szeged by throwing a Molotov cocktail into it. The ruling party accused opposition leader Ferenc Gyurcsány of incitement. Jobbik also condemned the attack.
A 28-year-old local man broke into the office of Fidesz in Szeged at dawn on Thursday, Szeged.hu news portal reported. He threw a Molotov cocktail into the building, causing a fire. Police extinguished the fire and immediately arrested the man.
“I condemn all forms of violence in all cases. Such acts should not be a means of expression or protest. There are residential properties above the office, so the irresponsible act could have easily turned into a tragedy,” Fidesz MP Béla Mihálffy told Szeged.ma.

According to a statement from the local Fidesz organization, the incident is the result of the “continuous incitement” of the left-liberal Democratic Coalition led by former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány. “The Fidesz office is a workplace where men, women, fathers and mothers work, and we cannot allow people who are incited by the left to resort to violence and to make the everyday lives of peaceful people miserable,” they wrote.
Among the opposition parties, the local Jobbik organization was the first to condemn the attack, according to Szeged.ma.
