Minister Reacts to Violence in Kosovo

Hungary Today 2023.05.30.

“Hungary has an interest in peace and tranquillity in our neighbourhood, in the Western Balkans” – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó wrote on Monday on his social media page in connection with the clashes in Kosovo.

“We are doing our part, with hundreds of our soldiers serving in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he wrote.

Hungarian soldiers serving in KFOR Kosovo under Italian command were deployed today in the village of Zvecan. The Hungarian soldiers carried out their duties as ordered, during which several of them were wounded. The medical care of the wounded Hungarian soldiers is provided by KFOR and the Hungarian Defense Forces.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister made the statement after 20 Hungarian soldiers, seven of whom were seriously injured during the military operation at the mayor’s office of the municipality of Zvecan in Kosovo, where the Hungarian Defense Forces, a NATO peacekeeping force, were deployed.
