“I reject the constant attacks against Poland and I demand more respect for the Polish electorate,” Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi stressed on Wednesday at the plenary session in Strasbourg, during a debate on the rule of law in Poland.
In the first part of his speech, the MEP addressed the European Parliament plenary in Polish: “Poland is a proud, confident, and successful nation, able to go its own way without being constantly lectured by the West,” he said. Balázs Hidvéghi sent a message to Polish opposition MEPs in the European People’s Party of the Civic Platform led by Donald Tusk, whom he said were behind the recent attacks.
“They are mistaken if they think that if they fail to win elections at home, they will come to Strasbourg or Brussels and join forces with all kinds of radical leftists to attack their own country and their own compatriots,” the Fidesz politician said.
This will not bring you electoral victory at home, because Poles – like Hungarians – reject this attitude.”
“Win elections on your own merits! Stop attacking your own countrymen here in Strasbourg, in the European Parliament! This is not right,” Hidvéghi called on the European Parliament.
