The Hungarian talent management institution, Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC), opened its first center in Slovakia on Wednesday in Dunajská Streda (Dunaszerdahely).
The network, considered the largest talent management institution in the Carpathian Basin, has so far operated 28 training sites, and the new center in Dunajská Streda adds to the number of locations. This is the first location in Slovakia, but the institution plans to expand its training offer to other locations in the region later this year.
Zoltán Szalai, Director General of the MCC, in his opening speech, quoting the words and ideas of János Selye (Hungarian endocrinologist, 1907-1982), said that the leadership of the MCC believes that excellence is the basis of everything, but also that talent is a duty to work responsibly for one’s community, homeland, and nation. They want the newly opened center to become a kind of community space in Dunajská Streda. They also want to reach out to the whole Hungarian community in Slovakia, therefore they are planning programs in Bratislava (Pozsony), Komárno (Komárom), Nové Zámky (Érsekújvár), Štúrovo (Párkány), Rimavská Sobota (Rimaszombat), Košice (Kassa), and Kráľovský Chlmec (Királyhelmec).
Krisztián Pomichal, Director of the MCC in Slovakia, noted that he was convinced that the institution’s presence in Slovakia has national strategic importance. He explained that not only because it brings the organization’s courses within easy reach of Hungarian students in Slovakia, but also because the institution’s aim is to benefit the whole nation by nurturing talented students.
It is an opportunity for our homeland, but also for Central Europe as a whole, if talented young Hungarians with international experience, independent of ideologies but with values, take part in building our common future,”
said the director.
The primary goal of the new MCC center is to provide talent development for the most talented young Hungarians from the local area and its surroundings. The new location offers the Young Talent Program for upper primary school students and the Secondary School Program, but in addition to talent management, the center also offers a number of public lectures with national and international experts.
The summer recruitment campaign of the center in Dunajská Streda has seen a greater than expected interest in their training.
The program for primary school pupils, which can start with 25 students, has seen a threefold excess of applications, while the secondary school program, which has no such limit, has attracted around 100 applicants so far.
