“In 1848 we had the imperial birds sitting on our necks, and now we have (Manfred) Weber birds crowing over our heads”, Viktor Orbán said in his festive speech remembering the 1848-49 Hungarian revolution in front of the National Museum. The Prime Minister made it clear that he will not compromise, and Ukraine cannot become a member of the European Union at the expense of Hungarians, reported Magyar Nemzet.
The idea of Hungarian freedom has been smouldering in history for centuries. Its origins go back a thousand years, and it will surely continue to travel among the stars for another thousand years, Viktor Orbán said in his speech in front of the National Museum on the occasion of the 15 March national holiday. The Prime Minister said that

He said that 15 March is a day destined for all generations of Hungarians, and it will remain so as long as there is a single Hungarian alive on earth. The Prime Minister reminded that for many years we have been told that we are the past. They said it in 1848 and in 1956. Today they are saying that the future belongs to the rainbow empire, he stressed. Yet on the other side of the big water, a turning point has been reached, and it has become clear: we are the future. The future belongs to patriots and independent nations, he added.
They said that Hungarians are isolated, the Prime Minister continued. They said the same thing in 1848, and then the whole of Europe was full of Hungarians. Even in Vienna, a citizen from Buda led the rebel forces. They said the same thing in 1956, but in the end we were the ones who knocked the first brick out of the Berlin Wall, which brought freedom to the whole of Europe. So they keep saying this about us, and yet at the same time everyone wants to hear about us, he said.
– Why is half the world curious about us? Certainly not because of our economy or our military might,” he said. He said that the strength of some nations is in trade, some have philosophy, some have art, and some have science.
The strength of the Hungarians is freedom. The Hungarian people are in their element when they fight for their freedom”,

The Prime Minister said that we have been left standing in our struggle against a world empire, we have the great secret, and that is why half the world, from Vienna to Washington, comes to us.
Just as in 1848, our fight for freedom is not just a Hungarian cause, it is being fought for the soul of the Western world. They want to lead our children’s and grandchildren’s generation into the chaos of unnatural ways of life, and they want to put us at the service of the gods of war instead of peace,” he said. We have not surrendered and we have not allowed them to take over the parliament, the government or the country.
For fifteen years now, they have not been able to control us, the Prime Minister said, adding that our defenses are not being breached. He said that the winds had changed, the patriots of the Western world had gained strength and won, and that in the battle for the soul of the Western world, we were now on the winning side. The Prime Minister said that
we can be proud because we paved the way in the worldwide struggle for freedom and the Hungarian flag still flies proudly today”.
The secret of the Hungarian war of independence is the same today as it was in the past. The Hungarian never fights only for himself, but also for his nation. As he said, we will not compromise, “no, no, never!” Brussels wants conquest and perpetual provinces, taxpayers and never free Hungarians. Orbán drew a parallel: Brussels wants to rule us just as Vienna used to do (during the Habsburgs). He said that we must not go outwards, but inwards. We will take it and change it, he said. The time will come, he added, when we will settle all our scores in Brussels. According to Viktor Orbán, empires are hungry by nature, their bellies are bottomless, but Hungarians know that being free is not only exhilarating, but also rewarding.

We will have work, prosperity, wealth and security only if the oppressors do not pocket us. Here in Hungary, we have built Europe’s only patriotic national economy in 15 years,” he said. The Prime Minister said that Hungary had suffered the greatest losses in the EU as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war. But despite this, the biggest tax cut in Europe is being implemented, and the future of Hungarian families is secured for decades to come.
He said that Europe has taken a plunge into the Russian-Ukrainian war, and we cannot do anyone any good by destroying our country. The “empire” does not want to help Ukraine, it wants to colonize it, he added. We can only have one answer: a union, but without Ukraine, Mr Orbán emphasized. Without Hungary there would be no decision on Ukraine’s EU membership.

“The Easter clean-up is coming. We are clearing out the whole shadow army. They are our new-age minions, the minions of Brussels, who are pushing the Empire’s cart for money in exchange for their country,” the Prime Minister said alluding to the Hungarian opposition lead by Péter Magyar. The Prime Minister said their fate would be the same as that of those who have collaborated with the Habsburgs in centuries past: they will be be defeated again and again.
What does the Hungarian nation demand from Brussels?

Before his speech on 15 March, Mr Orbán announced his 12 points, mirroring the 12 demands drafted by the Hungarian revolutionary movement shortly before the outbreak of the revolution on March 15, 1848:
What does the Hungarian nation demand from Brussels? Let there be peace, freedom, and unity.
1. We demand a Europe of nations.
2. We demand equality before the law for all Member States.
3. Restore the competences unlawfully taken from nations.
4. National sovereignty and a strong veto for national governments.
5. Expel Soros agents from the Commission and remove corrupt lobbyists from the Parliament.
6. Do not mortgage our grandchildren’s future, eliminate the Union’s debt.
7. Do not obstruct our national guard from protecting our borders. Do not bring in migrants, and remove those who have arrived illegally.
8. Corrupt dollars and euros must not flow into Member States.
9. Ban the unnatural re-education of our children.
10. Protect Europe’s Christian heritage.
11. We demand peace in Europe.
12. A Union, but without Ukraine. Equality, freedom, brotherhood!.
