According to 24.hu, Politico reported that three Fidesz MEPs will return home from Brussels. On the other hand, Népszava wrote that the movement will be much broader.
Half of the Fidesz faction in Brussels will not stand for another mandate in the June EP elections, meaning that six out of the 12 Fidesz members will definitely not continue as MEPs. According to the news source, László Trócsányi, Lívia Járóka, Ádám Kósa, Balázs Hidvéghi, Andor Deli, and Edina Tóth will not be on the list. Furthermore, there is no information available regarding the candidacy or withdrawal of Andrea Bocskor, who was mentioned in the report.
Former Justice Minister Trócsányi announced at the beginning of the year that he would not be an MEP, as he desires to work as the rector of Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church.
A few weeks ago, he even withdrew his candidacy to be a constitutional judge.
The Fidesz EP list is led by “EU-veteran” Tamás Deutsch, who was given the opportunity due to the public retirement of Judit Varga, who was embroiled in the pardon scandal. According to Népszava, András Gyürk, Enikő Győri, and Kinga Gál could be replaced by other members of the parliamentary group. Additionally, KDNP’s György Hölvényi, the thirteenth MEP from the governing party, may also seek re-election.
