Cooperation with Local Residents Will Be Key to New University Campus Construction

Hungary Today 2024.04.04.

The Minister for Construction and Transport announced the construction of the new campus for the Pázmány Péter Catholic University in the 8th district of Budapest, according to Magyar Nemzet. János Lázár wrote about the plans and the construction on his Facebook page.

He stressed that the campus will be a building worthy of the so-called “Palace Quarter,” but it cannot be built without consulting the local residents on how to develop and renovate the area in parallel with the construction.

They will tell us how to compensate them for the inconvenience caused by the construction: which facades or streets to renovate, whether to build an underground car park or a parking garage, and whether to create more public parks,” he pointed out.

Mr. Lázár also mentioned that there could be professional debates about the new sports hall, the dormitory, or the former building of the Hungarian Radio, but two things are already certain: the new university campus will be built, and only the locals can determine how to develop the area.

“University and peace!” he concluded.
