Olympic champion Liu Shaoang and Sándor Liu Shaolin are preparing for the new season in China, following their Chinese coach Zhang Jing (also known as Lina Zhang), who has recently left the Hungarian short-track speed skating team.
“15 years of commitment, hard work, many challenges and difficulties, but even more unforgettable moments and success together. Lina has been on our side in our sports career as much as in our everyday life, therefore we feel towards her the biggest love and unconditional trust. We would like to keep up the work and continue our journey together. We will be physically away for a while but don’t worry we will stay active and you will meet us again soon!” the Liu brothers wrote in three languages – English and Chinese, as well as Hungarian – on their social media page.

The brothers’ mother is Hungarian and their father is Chinese.
The Hungarian Federation’s (MOKSZ) social networking site also revealed on Monday that the two world-class athletes are not traveling to China alone, as they will be accompanied by South Korean coach, Jae Su Chun.
A month ago, the MOKSZ announced that Zhang Jing, who arrived in Hungary in the summer of 2012, will leave the head coaching position and return to China, while Ákos Bánhidi will take over the national team.
Under the Asian coach, the men’s relay team won Hungary’s first Winter Olympic gold medal at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, and this year in Beijing Liu Shaoang made history with his first individual Olympic gold (500m).
