Hungary is not limited to Budapest, as there are plenty of gems to discover outside the city.Continue reading
Twenty-five venues will host around 200 concerts and programs, including several circus shows, literary discussions, as well as sustainability and education programs between Thursday and Saturday at the Strand Festival in Zamárdi (southern shore).
Hungarian artists such as Azahriah, Beton.Hofi and Bagossy Brothers Company will perform on the stages, while the international line-up includes Chase & Status, Alok and Elderbrook.
The main streets and squares of the event are named after deceased Hungarian musicians – Juli Fábián, Örs Siklósi, Tamás Somló and DJ Palotai – in memory of these unforgettable artists, the organizers write.
Almost all the venues evoke the world of the circus. The Strand Circus Morpheus Show with aerial artists and music by Hundred Sins has been created especially for the occasion, while the Budapest Circus is also putting on special shows for the festival.
In a pop-up gallery on the waterfront and at several points throughout the festival, works by contemporary Hungarian artists such as Zsombor Barakonyi, Kata Bereczki and Imre Bukta will be on display. Péter Weiler’s spectacular 130-square-meter work, created with generative AI software, also evokes the world of the circus.
The organizers have set themselves the important goal of reducing the festival’s ecological footprint, their statement says. With the help of experts they are developing a sustainability scheme, including reducing the carbon footprint of catering, promoting cycling and public transport, favoring local entrepreneurs and reducing noise pollution.
