The biggest ever humanitarian aid effort in Hungary is under way, Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary for international communications, said in an interview broadcast by the US news channel MSNBC.
The number of refugees from Ukraine “is over 500,000 by now because we combine the numbers that are coming directly from Ukraine and through Romania,” Kovács said in the interview which he also posted on Facebook.
“Not since the second world war, we have never ever witnessed refugees in so great numbers and very unfortunately, as we see, the influx, the flow, the flee of refugees is going to continue,” he said. “We are prepared, there is no cap, there is no limit, neither in the numbers nor in the supplies,” he added.
