Extending the current special legal order put in place in response to the coronavirus pandemic is “an absolute necessity” to enable effective and quick decisions and a flexible response to epidemic-related challenges, State Secretary Pál Völner said in parliament on Tuesday.
Presenting the government’s proposal on the law on protection against the pandemic in parliament, Völner said that while Hungary had mounted one of the most effective inoculation campaigns in Europe, new variants were “spreading with unprecedented speed and effects”, which called for further measures to ensure effective protection.
Protecting the health of Hungarian people, mitigating the impact on the economy and preserving jobs are top priorities for the government, the state secretary said, and urged deputies to support the ministry’s proposal.
