The only way Europe can truly renew itself is if conservatives can be the dominant voice on issues like integration and the elimination of threats, Justice Minister Judit Varga said on Monday.
Surveys show that the elite is now too far removed from the European people and there is a need for conservative policies, Varga told a roundtable discussion held as part of the ongoing conference on the future of Europe.
She said a new European conservative movement was taking shape, adding that a victory for the current Hungarian government in the 2022 election would reinforce conservative politics, giving “a rare opportunity to the whole of Europe”.
“The only way we can truly renew ourselves, including as an integration, and eliminate threats, is if these issues can be dominated by conservatives,” Varga said.
