BMW Group Hungary reached a sales record in the first quarter of 2025, selling 1,501 vehicles between January and March—a 9.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
This is part of a global trend as BMW not only maintained its leading position in the premium car segment during the first quarter of this year, but also recorded a 6.2% increase in sales in Europe.
Most customers in Hungary opted for the eighth generation of the world’s most successful business sedan, with 210 units of the BMW 5 Series and BMW i5 sold. In the premium mid-size segment, 187 customers chose the BMW 4 Coupé and BMW i4 models. In third place came the BMW X1 and its electric version, the BMW iX1, with 175 units sold in the compact Sports Activity Vehicle category. They added that
in the fully electric vehicle market, BMW Group Hungary ranked fourth with 173 electric vehicles sold in the quarter under the BMW brand.
As the owner of the BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, and BMW Motorrad brands, the BMW Group operates more than 30 manufacturing facilities worldwide and sells its products through a sales network in over 140 countries. In 2024, the BMW Group sold more than 2.45 million vehicles and over 210,000 motorcycles globally. With total revenues of €142.4 billion, the company generated €11 billion in profit during the 2024 financial year. As of December 31, 2024, the BMW Group employed 159,104 people worldwide.
BMW’s Debrecen plant also underwent many changes since January, including starting a dual vocational training program called TalentFactory and beginning the production of the all-electric Neue Klasse X model.
BMW Group revealed in Friday’s press release that
they sold 586,149 new vehicles worldwide in the first quarter of 2025, nearly matching the results of the same period last year, despite a drop in demand in China.
Excluding China, global sales grew by 5.9%, with a 6.2% increase recorded in Europe.
Sales of fully electric models rose significantly on a global scale, with 109,516 vehicles delivered to customers—representing a 32.4% increase compared to the previous year. In Europe, demand for electric vehicles increased even more sharply, by 64.2%.

Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, and Sales, stated:

The BMW brand delivered 520,142 new vehicles globally, of which 86,449 were fully electric—representing a 9.9% year-on-year increase. Global interest in electric MINI models also surged by 35.3% compared to the previous year.
