Eight international stars, including Lukas Graham, Judith Glory Hill, Zaz, and Mario Biondi, will perform at this year’s Jazz Picnic, taking place from July 31 to August 2 in Paloznak, a Balaton Uplands village.
The 13th edition of the festival will also feature performances on the main stage by the Lehmanns Brothers, the Kennedy Administration, the Earth, Wind & Fire Experience, and Deladap.
As always, this year’s festival will be colorful in terms of music, audience, entertainment, and generations alike.
What continues to make Jazz Picnic’s lineup special is that we bring in artists who rarely or never perform at other Hungarian festivals,” said Orsolya Valde, founder and director of the Jazz Picnic, at Tuesday’s press conference in Budapest.
She highlighted that the musical lineup includes returning favorites such as Mario Biondi and Earth, Wind & Fire Experience, alongside newcomers like Lukas Graham, the immensely popular Danish pop band known for global hits like 7 Years, Love Someone, Mama Said, and Share That Love.
She also mentioned Grammy-winning American singer Judith Glory Hill, who will perform with her family band, and expressed excitement that French star Zaz will finally be attending after years of scheduling difficulties.
The headliner performances will again be complemented by numerous DJ sets, including acts like Palo Canto feat. Nóvé Soma, Andrew J & Dan von Schulz, Get Funky, and Groove Generation.
Smaller stages will feature Hungarian acts, as introduced by festival CEO Dániel Sánta. Many artists from the Hungarian jazz scene will be present. The lineup includes the Muck Éva Band, Lukács Márton Trio, Horváth Gábor Trio, Budapest Bossanova Quartet, Rafael Mario Trio, Proli Jazz Quartet, Saya Noé Solo Live Act, Csapó Krisztián–Varga Tivadar Duo, and a duo of Soma Nóvé and Sándor Csoóri Jr. The professional collaboration with the Hangfoglaló Program – a Hungarian government initiative aimed at supporting and promoting the country’s popular music scene – will also continue, bringing three additional acts: Sárközi Dina, biankahaidu, and Janet Gruber.
This year introduces a new venue at the festival, the Bordivat Udvar, where guests can sample Balaton Bor, a Welschriesling-based wine made by about fifteen local winemakers from the Balatoni Kör.
Orsolya Valde and fashion designer Péter Merő announced that the Bordivat Udvar will also host a fashion show featuring Banana Moon swimwear and the luxury fashion brand Mero.
As in previous years, daytime children’s programs will be held, and the festival will continue its partnerships with the Together for Autism Foundation, the Foundation for Paloznak’s Future, and support a charitable initiative benefiting the Surgery Department of the Tűzoltó Street Pediatric Clinic at Budapest’s Semmelweis University. Waste management will once again be handled by Zöldövezet Társulás, ensuring environmentally conscious organization, recycling, the use of eco-friendly products, and public awareness campaigns.
