For the first time, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) is launching a call for postdoctoral researchers from all over the world to join the academy’s “Lendület” (Momentum) research groups.
The winners of the Momentum MSCA postdoctoral fellowship will be able to join the “Lendület” research groups from January 2026, according to the academy’s website. The call is open to applications from all three major scientific disciplines.
The project will be co-funded by the European Research Executive Agency (REA) and
will contribute up to EUR 5 million in total to support the careers of 35 outstanding postdoctoral researchers in Hungary.
Under the scheme, “Lendület” research teams that host a postdoc for at least 12 months will receive an additional HUF 10 million ( EUR 25 thousand) per year for the duration of the affiliation. Postdocs can join a research group for a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 36 months.
According to the official page of the “Lendület” program, their primary objectives are to
provide postdoctoral researchers with the opportunity to further develop their careers within the dynamic research environment,”
to “enhance the international visibility and impact of the “Lendület” Program,” to “foster the growth of robust research, development, and innovation RDI ecosystems at the local, regional, and international levels,” and to “strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and cooperation among researchers across various fields and sectors.”
The program supports researchers from a wide range of fields including engineering, technology, humanities, and medical sciences to natural and social sciences. The call for applications will be available from April 2, with a deadline for applications of May 31.
