A variety of literary and cultural events will take place at the PesText festival starting on Friday. This year’s guest of honor is Vladimir Sorokin.
The PesText International Literary and Cultural Festival will be held from September 23 to October 1 and will feature nearly 70 artists and more than 35 programs. The event will take place at three locations in Budapest: Három Holló café, Millenáris, and Deák17 Gallery, as well as in Szeged and Balatonfüred.
This year’s PesText guest of honor is the world-famous Vladimir Sorokin, author of the Ice Trilogy (Bro – Ice – 23.000). Artists include Sjón, Bridget Collins, Marie Aubert, Mircea Cărtărescu, Max Porter, Viola Ardone, Jean-Claude Mourlevat, and Erlend Loe. The festival will also present the best of the local cultural scene, including Orsolya Karafiáth, Benedek Totth, Péter Závada, VENI, and Iamyank.
In addition to literary lectures, there will be concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and events on the topic of comics.
PesText is the official partner and afterparty host of the Budapest International Book Festival for the first time this year. With its focus on world literature, PesText aims to show how literary works from different languages and cultures can be presented in the reading experience of another country or nation.
