The 43rd AGROmashExpo international agricultural machinery exhibition opened on Wednesday in Budapest. The event is taking place between January 22-25, and will see around 200 exhibitors from 15 countries present their products and services on 50,000 square meters at the Hungexpo Budapest Congress and Exhibition Center.
In his welcome speech, Gábor Ganczer, CEO of Hungexpo Zrt., said that the exhibition will showcase innovative solutions that help the development of agriculture.
With the exhibition, they are opening the door to the agriculture of tomorrow, the products presented now will work in the fields of the future, and new technologies will become part of everyday life,
he stressed.
In his opening speech, Zsolt Feldman, State Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the climate resilience of Hungarian agriculture must be strengthened, and the government is supporting farmers in this. He added that thanks to the developments so far, the area of irrigable land in Hungary has increased by 47 percent since 2018, reaching 229,500 hectares.
In many respects, 2025 will be a year of generational change,
he said. He explained that a call for proposals with a budget of HUF 79 billion (EUR 192 million) will be published to support the start-up and investment of young farmers, and tender schemes related to farm transfer will be prepared.
Zsolt Feldman pointed out that crop output in Hungary fell by 13.3 percent in 2024, compared to the previous year, and after the tragically dry year of 2022, “we were also hit by the summer drought last year.” He added that Romania, Bulgaria, and even Denmark and France were hit even harder. There, it was not farmers who forgot to cultivate the land from one year to the next, but the problem was caused by climate difficulties, he explained.
At the opening ceremony, the awards for the 2025 AGROmashEXPO Domestic and International Product Development Awards were presented, with two entries winning grand prizes, five receiving special awards, and seven receiving premium certificates. The winners can be found via this link.
