SK On Hungary Ltd., the company operating the battery factory in Komárom (northwestern Hungary), released a statement announcing an internal investigation into the illness of several individuals at the factory, reports Index.

Emergency services stated that no dangerous substance exceeding the limit value was detected by the mobile laboratory. SK confirmed this in their statement, adding:

While measurements did not show any hazardous substances above the limit, we have initiated an internal investigation into the incident.”

They also noted that the hospitalized workers have been discharged and no further symptoms have been reported.

“We are committed to operating SK On in a manner that ensures the safety of our staff and the residents of Komárom. […] We apologize for any inconvenience this incident may have caused,” stated the company. Additionally, they pledged to implement additional precautionary measures alongside the investigation.

According to measurements, two compounds, hydrogen cyanide and nitrogen dioxide, were released into the air at levels below the limit values.
