From August, the Hungarian Innovation Agency (NIÜ) will relaunch workshops to prepare innovative businesses and startups for international markets through the XPAND program.
Since spring, nearly 30 companies have participated, with 10 attending international innovation events and holding almost 200 business meetings with foreign partners. Upcoming opportunities include presenting and networking in China in September, followed by events in Germany, Kazakhstan, the United States, and Singapore.
XPAND helps micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and startups understand international market entry, its challenges, and specific country requirements through practical examples.
The program’s theoretical part includes a situation assessment, practical and methodological knowledge, and targeted market insights. The best-prepared candidates will access major global markets with support from the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT).
László Bódis, Director General of NIÜ and Deputy Secretary of State for Innovation at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM), emphasized the agency’s goal to help many Hungarian companies enter international markets.
The aim is to educate 100-150 companies annually on foreign market entry and send the top 30-50 to relevant target markets.
Feedback from participants shows that XPAND effectively guides companies to the point where international customers seek out Hungarian products with minimal effort. The program helps to develop foreign market entry plans and provides a supportive community for new market entrants, ensuring they are not alone in their efforts.
