Infantry Brigade Conducts Tactical Live Firing Exercise with Lynx Combat Vehicles

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.06.10.

The MH Pál Kinizsi 30th Armoured Infantry Brigade carried out a live firing exercise with a Lynx combat vehicle.

During the practiced scenario, they not only fired at the enemy but also distracted them with retreating fog.

In a video published by honvedelem.hu about the exercise, Lieutenant Máté Kiss said that the smoke grenades fired from the combat vehicle not only provide physical cover for the retreating Lynx, but also serve as a trap against heat-tracking projectiles and make it difficult to locate the vehicle.

Sergeant Major András Török described the Lynx as a fast, precise, and accurate tool that is a pleasure to serve with.

He stressed the importance of proper training for new recruits. He added that among the recruits, he has met some of the most highly motivated people.

In addition to the Lynx, live firing was also conducted with the Carl Gustaf M4 anti-tank grenade launcher.

Fact

The procurement of the Carl Gustaf M4 grenade launchers was decided by the Hungarian Defense Forces in 2018, as part of a development program. Since 2019, soldiers have been using the Saab Bofors Dynamics weapons, which replaced the Soviet RPG-7. The Carl Gustaf M4 weighs just seven kilograms, is one meter long, and is made of composite materials. As it can fire several types of ammunition, it has a wide range of applications. Its two-man crew can fire six rounds per minute if properly trained. It is effective at 300-400 meters against a moving target and up to 500 meters against a stationary one.
