From Friday, the Megyeri Bridge in Budapest will be illuminated with decorative Christmas lights, and for the fourth time it will become the country’s tallest “Christmas tree,” announced Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. in a statement.
The festive illumination will last from December 20 to 26. The bridge will be visible from dusk every day thanks to special green foils placed on the lighting equipment.
A star-shaped decoration will be placed on the top of each of the bridge’s two pilasters,
on the Buda and Pest sides, using robotic lamps. In addition, special decorative lights will be placed on the central, glassy part of the piers, according to the statement.
It was also stated that those who want to have a closer look at the festive decorative lighting should not stop in the emergency lane. It was suggested that
anyone wishing to take photos should approach the bridge from Main Road 2. It is safe to access the site on foot or even by bicycle via the section under the Pest bridgehead.
The Road Administration is also asking pedestrians to cross the bridge with caution, watching out for other road users and keeping a safe following distance. The traffic and the correct use of the emergency lane will be regularly monitored by the road manager’s staff, the statement said.
