Hungary is sending 200,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to Egypt as an aid to boost the vaccination campaign and strengthen virus protection efforts in the north African country, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Wednesday in a video on Facebook.

Speaking from Liszt Ferenc International Airport ahead of a visit to Africa, Szijjártó called Egypt key to European security. Egypt has successfully stemmed the flow of migrants from its territory to Europe for the past five years, he said. “Egypt’s success, security, and stability are important for us,” he said.

With the vaccine shipment to Egypt, the number of doses Hungary donated to other countries has surpassed 2.5 million, Szijjártó said.
