Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has sent a letter to the Hungarian Jewish community on the occasion of Hanukkah.
The Hanukkah candles lit on the darkest days of the year remind us that even the longest night cannot last forever, and that even the most difficult times must come to an end,”
Orbán wrote, adding that this message is particularly important at a time when anti-semitism is on the rise across Europe, with innocent people being attacked simply because of their origin and faith. He said, “it gives me a good feeling that even in these difficult times that
Hungary is an island of peace in the world, where all our fellow Jews can live and celebrate in safety.
Allow me, as Prime Minister of Hungary, to greet you with respect on this holiday of light, and to wish that the miracle of Hanukkah will bring the long-awaited peace to us all,” concluded the Prime Minister in his heartening letter, which was delivered to the leaders of Jewish organizations in Hungary again this year.
