Industrial Output Frowth Slows to 2.6pc in Aug

MTI-Hungary Today 2021.10.06.

Industrial output in Hungary rose by an annual 2.6 percent in August, continuing to slow as the global chip shortage impacted the local automotive industry, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Wednesday.

Output of vehicle manufacturing “fell significantly” in August as the global semiconductor shortage caused factory shutdowns, KSH said in the first reading of data. Output of the computer, electronics and optical equipment segment also declined, while output of the food, drinks and tobacco segment rose, it added.

Adjusted for the number of work days, output edged up by 0.6 percent.

In a month-on-month comparison, output fell a seasonally- and workday-adjusted 2.7 percent.
