Family Minister: More Than 184,000 Families Benefit from Home Purchase Support

MTI-Hungary Today 2021.08.10.

More than 184,000 families have benefited so far from the government’s family home purchase subsidies (csok) and more than 25,000 families applied for the home renovation subsidies since the latter scheme was launched early this year, Minister for Families Katalin Novák said on Tuesday.

Novák said payouts of more than 20 billion forints (EUR 57m) in home renovation subsidies had been made already. These families also applied for state subsidised home renovation loans of 24 billion.

Under the scheme, the government is offering to cover up to half of home renovation costs, with a grant capped at 3 million forints, for families with at least one child. Households can take out a subsidised loan to cover the other half of project costs.
