Hungary’s national football team put in a bravura performance to defeat European silver medallists England 1-0 in the opening round of Division A of the UEFA Nations League at the Puskás Arena on Saturday.
Dominik Szoboszlai scored the winning goal from a penalty in the 66th minute in front of 30,000 children under 14 at the Puskás Arena. Hungary had previously beaten England at the 1962 World Cup, but since then they have lost 12 times to the islanders, with three draws.
Marco Rossi’s side will host European champions Italy in Cesena in the second round of the Nations League in three days’ time on Tuesday.
