The government has decided to maximise the prices of petrol and diesel at 480 forints (EUR 1.3) per liter from November 15, the prime minister’s chief of staff said on Thursday.

“Petrol and diesel could be cheaper than 480 forints but not more expensive,” Gergely Gulyás told a regular press briefing.

Putting a cap on fuel prices could help the economy and contribute to reducing inflation, too, he said.
