Hungary at the Front of Favorable Fuel Prices in the Region

MTI-Hungary Today 2025.05.07.

According to the latest data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH), fuel prices in Hungary remained significantly lower than the average in neighboring countries in April, the Ministry for National Economy pointed out in a statement.

Based on the European Union’s Weekly Oil Bulletin, the monthly average price of 95-octane gasoline in Hungary was 589 forints (1.457 euros), which is 17 forints lower than the average price of 606 forints (1.499 euros) measured in neighboring countries.

In the case of diesel fuel, the Hungarian average price of 600 forints (1.484 euros) was 13 forints lower than the average price of 613 forints (1.517 euros) in neighboring countries. All this indicates that Hungarian fuel prices are not only competitive but also significantly lower than in neighboring countries, the Ministry of National Economy emphasized.

The goal is to ensure favorable fuel prices for Hungarian families and businesses by maintaining the stability and competitiveness of the domestic market.

The government remains confident in its constructive cooperation with fuel retailers to maintain stable and competitive prices, the ministry stated. They added that the government is also constantly monitoring domestic and international market trends, and where necessary, taking measures to ensure that prices remain as low as possible.
