62 percent of Hungarian adults are satisfied with PM Viktor Orbán’s peace mission. A survey by the Hungarian Social Research Institute (Társadalomkutauó Intézet) also shows that even a third of opposition voters support Viktor Orbán’s peace efforts.

Shortly after taking over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Hungarian Prime Minister visited Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Xi Jinping of China to promote an end to the Russo-Ukrainian war. Since no politician has taken such an active role in promoting the end of the war since the outbreak of the conflict, the research examined the domestic perception of this peace mission.

More than three-fifths (62 percent) of respondents representing the adult Hungarian population were satisfied with Viktor Orbán’s efforts to promote a ceasefire and peace, and two-thirds (41 percent of the total sample) were completely satisfied.

Just over a quarter of Hungarians (28 percent) are dissatisfied with the peace mission. With more than twice as many satisfied as dissatisfied, the domestic perception of the first week of the peace mission is very positive.
