Support for the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia (Ukraine) to remain in their homeland is still a priority for the Hungarian government, Árpád János Potápi, State Secretary for National Policy said at a conference of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College in Berehovo (Beregszász, Ukraine).
The Hungarian nation is resistant to crises, and this is especially true for Hungarians in Transcarpathia, said János Árpád Potápi, who attended the conference online.
He stressed that the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia had been actively involved in helping and caring for refugees from the inner parts Ukraine, and that its members “as Ukrainian citizens would like to participate in the reconstruction of post-war democratic Ukraine, where the educational and linguistic rights of minorities that existed before would be restored.
Hungary will continue to support investments that will help the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia to survive and prosper in their homeland, Potápi added.
