Tourists visiting Roznava (Rozsnyó) is on the rise, their numbers having increased by a quarter ma7.sk reports. The Slovak town has a sizeable Hungarian minority that make up 18% of inhabitants.
The Tourist Information Center in the town’s Miners’ Square welcomed over 10,300 visitors in 2023, with the highest number of locals coming from the Roznava district (4,684 people).
Over 2,000 tourists came from other parts of the country, with Hungary and the Czech Republic being the most visited from across the border (1,459 and 693 visitors respectively).
Smaller numbers of visitors came from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, France, and the Netherlands. Interestingly, international visitors arrived from Canada, Bolivia, Colombia, Taiwan, Ghana, South Korea, Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, and Malaysia.
The city’s most visited attractions include the 36-meter-tall Rákóczi Tower, which received 1,293 visitors during the Roznava Fair. Another notable attraction is the Andrássy Mansion in Betliar (Betlér), located not far from the city. Built in the 18th century and nestled in the Slana (Sajó) River valley, it boasts an antique library with over 14,000 volumes.
Another notable historical monument is the Andrássy Mausoleum, also located near Roznava.
