This year’s awards ceremony was held in Florence on 16 October, and prizes were awarded in nine categories. The Szepsy winery from Mád, Eastern Hungary, won the prestigious 2022 Best European Wine Producer 2022 category. István Szepsy junior, the head of the winery, said that the award is special in many ways. Firstly, the jury includes the global elite of the wine-producing profession, which gives the award significant publicity worldwide. Moreover, there has never been a nominee from Hungary, or even from the region, in any category.
