Hungarian Technologies to Improve Jordan’s Healthcare System

MTI-Hungary Today 2025.04.25.

Hungary and Jordan have agreed on measures to further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on Thursday in Amman.

The Minister reported at a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, that the Hungarian-Jordanian Joint Economic Committee had held a meeting and that bilateral trade had doubled since 2010. “Today, we agreed on further steps necessary to enhance economic cooperation, which will enable Hungarian health technologies and medical devices to contribute more to improving the quality of Jordan’s healthcare system,” he said.

We are preparing to sign an agreement that will increase our food trade, and since we are a country that uses nuclear energy and Jordan also believes in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, there is also potential for serious technological, educational, and training cooperation in this area,”

he added.

Mr. Szijjártó then emphasized that the world is facing extremely serious security challenges today, which affect both Central Europe and the Middle East. He explained that the security of the two regions is closely intertwined, and it is therefore in Hungary’s interest that there be peace in the Middle East and that the spread of war be prevented.

“We therefore greatly appreciate Jordan’s efforts to promote peace and reduce tensions. We greatly appreciate Jordan’s committed and decisive action against extremism,” the Foreign Minister emphasized. In this context, he noted that the latter is also of great importance for Europe’s security amid the global rise of the terrorist threat. He added that it was important to ensure that the “diabolical, brutal terrorist attacks” that had previously shaken the Middle East would not be repeated and that all people could live in safety and peace.

Péter Szijjártó then turned to the migration crisis affecting Europe, and in this context, praised Jordan’s efforts to stem the flow of migrants by taking in millions of refugees on its own territory.

He confirmed that the Hungarian government therefore supports all international initiatives that would increase support for Jordan. “We know full well that without Jordan’s responsible attitude, millions of migrants would flood Europe, and Europe would not be able to cope with another wave of millions of migrants,” he warned. He therefore assured his support for the strategic partnership between the European Union and Jordan to be implemented as soon as possible and as thoroughly as possible, and for the country’s security forces to receive support from the European Peace Facility. He also recalled that Hungary had offered resources for this purpose within NATO.

The Minister noted that

over the past few years, Hungary has supported thirteen humanitarian church development programs in Jordan worth more than one billion forints and has also participated in the renovation of several churches.

Finally, he highlighted that 400 Jordanian students can study at Hungarian universities on scholarships each year, and thanks to the program, more than 1,000 students are currently studying in Hungary.
