The Kreinbacher Estate located in Somló (western Hungary) has gained international recognition with two of its sparkling wines at one of the world’s most prestigious wine and sparkling wine competitions, the 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards, Index reported.
The estate’s Brut Classic Magnum 2019 won a platinum medal, while the Prestige Brut repeated last year’s success and won another gold medal.
The competition was held for the 22nd time this year, with entries from 57 countries, and only the very best wines were awarded gold or platinum medals. The platinum rating was given to wines that scored between 97 and 100 points, including the Kreinbacher sparkling wine.

The magnum bottle (1.5 liters) is not only special in size: the sparkling wine matures more slowly in it, its aromas are richer and its bubbles are softer, thus representing an even higher quality than the standard-sized versions.
This was the first time in the history of the competition that non-Champagne magnum sparkling wines were accepted, so it is a particularly great success that Kreinbacher Brut Classic Magnum immediately ranked among the 137 best sparkling wines in the world.
The Prestige Brut – the winery’s premium sparkling wine – once again brought home a gold medal. Made from a blend of Furmint and Chardonnay, this wine is elegant with notes of butter biscuits and toasted walnuts, complemented by exciting acids and creamy bubbles. Kreinbacher has thus proven that Hungarian sparkling wines can hold their own at the highest international level.
